Great venue, great food, great company… this year’s Barrister’s Ball hosted by the Auburn Hills Campus was an event to remember! On Saturday, February 23, 2013, over 100 Cooley Auburn Hills' students, faculty, staff, and friends gathered at the Lafayette Grande Banquet Facility located in the Downtown area of Pontiac, Michigan. The evening included a cocktail hour, candy bar, photo booth, and a buffet dinner. The DJ, Mario Rodriguez, complimented the ambiance of the whole evening with a diverse selection of music, and our very own photographer, student Alpesh Tailor, gave us snapshots of an evening to remember.
Attendees of the ball had unlimited access to the Photo Booth, which included a variety of props and allowed for individual and group shots. The Photo Booth included four snapshots which developed into a strip of pictures generated for the attendees, and served as a keepsake of the evening’s events, labeled “Cooley Law School Barrister’s Ball 2013”. As well, there was a huge assortment of cotton candy, gummy bears, now and later candy, twizzlers, and chocolates available for individual packaging at the candy bar.
The Auburn Hills members of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity created a Barrister’s Ball for the Auburn Hills campus, and successfully held the First Annual Barrister’s Ball in March of 2012. The planning committee - Elisha Alexander, Stephanie Walczak, and Liberty Price – welcomed over 80 faculty, staff, and students at the Crown Plaza in Auburn Hills. Realizing the success of the first ball prompted the planning of the second ball, in particular the selection of the Lafayette Grande as a venue.
Planning for the third annual ball is already underway, maintaining the Lafayette Grande as the meeting spot. A “Save the Date” notification should be out sometime in the fall term since the ball will be set for the Hilary 2014 term. The Auburn Hills Barrister’s Ball is an exciting, new event to look out for on Cooley’s calendar of events!
