March 17, 2013 By Sarah Miller Guest Writer, Grand Rapids The Grand Rapids Cooley campus has a new student organization--the State Bar of Michigan Law Student Association (LSA). A branch of the State Bar of Michigan Law Student Section (LSS), the LSA works directly with the State Bar on student issues. Representatives for each Cooley campus collaborate on monthly conference calls and discuss new opportunities to bring to the law students. The Association’s mission is:
Get Involved with the State Bar of Michigan LSA Becoming a member of the the LSA is easy. The application is available at the State Bar’s website at http://michbar.org/lawstudent/membership.cfm. Membership only costs 15 dollars per year. Additionally, students receive a monthly Michigan Bar Journal as confirmation of your membership. E-journals for sections dedicated to a variety of practice areas are also available to members on the State Bar’s website. Upcoming Event: The Leader in You Former Michigan State Bar President, Mr. Jon Muth is coming to the Grand Rapids campus on Tuesday, March 19th, at noon in room 529. Mr. Muth’s lecture is open to the entire student body, so please be sure to mark your calendar. The SBA and LSA are providing lunch to all attendees, free of charge.
